The Beacon is made from solid brass, not brass-plated steel, and it is left unlacquered so it will darken and patina with handling rather than staying artificially bright. The weighted base keeps it steady on uneven floors, and the stem is height-adjustable through a friction collar so you can set it over a chair or behind a sofa. The shade is natural linen with a white inner lining, which throws a warm, diffused light rather than a hard pool. It takes a standard E26 bulb; we would suggest a 2700K filament LED. Our mark is stamped into the base plate. If you prefer the bright finish, a little brass polish will bring it back at any point.
